As Google’s Pixel Watch series doesn’t use a universal charging standard, charging your watch and finding the right charger can be confusing. In this post, you’ll get a clear, step by step guide for charging each Pixel Watch model, whether you’re working with the original Pixel Watch, the Pixel Watch 2, or the Pixel Watch 3.

I.How to Charge Pixel Watch 1

As the original Pixel Watch has a raised sensor on its back, it won’t sit flat on a standard Qi pad, instead you must use the concave magnetic charger that came in the box or a specially designed Pixel Watch 1 charger.
First, since the watch charges wirelessly at 5 watts, connect the included magnetic charging cable to a compatible power adapter that has efficient power output.
Next, align the back of the watch with the charger’s concave cradle until the magnets snap it firmly into place.
Once you see the charging animation on screen, you’re all set. It takes about 30 minutes to reach 50% charge, and a full charge (0% to 100%) takes around 80 minutes.

II.How to Charge Pixel Watch 2/3

Google switched to a four-pin magnetic charging design with the Pixel Watch 2 and 3, which allows for faster charging and improved heat control compared to the first gen. However, please note that this type of charger only works when the watch is placed in one correct orientation.
First, connect the four-pin charging cable to a power adapter that can deliver enough output to support the Pixel Watch’s 2.5W wired charging input.
Next, place the back of your Pixel Watch 2 or 3 on the charger, making sure the pins align precisely with the charging contacts on the watch. Once properly connected, charging will begin.
Under normal conditions, the Pixel Watch 2 typically takes about 75 minutes to fully charge from 0%, while the Pixel Watch 3 (45mm) takes around 80 minutes, and the Pixel Watch 3 (41mm) takes around 60 minutes.

III.Charging Tips & Common Questions

  1. Keep It Clean and Aligned
Before charging, make sure both the back of your Pixel Watch and the charger surface are clean and free from dust or sweat. For Pixel Watch 2 and 3, ensure the four charging pins are correctly aligned with the contact points on the watch.
  2. Charge in a Cool Environment
Try to charge your watch in a cool, shaded place. High temperatures can slow down charging and can even damage the battery over time. Avoid charging near heat sources or under direct sunlight.
  3. Protect Battery Health
To maintain battery health, avoid frequent overcharging or fully draining the battery. Instead, start charging when your battery drops below 20%, and don’t leave it on the charging pad for too long after it’s fully charged.
